The 2007 IVLA Conference will take place in the city of Curitiba, capital of the Paraná state in the south of Brazil .

Curitiba is a lovely city, well-known for its green areas, parks and innovative city transportation system. Curitiba is considered the city for business conventions. It was chosen to host the United Nations World Forum 2006, and the IVLA 2007 Conference!

Curitiba was founded over 300 years ago. Its name is of tupi-guarani indigenous origin and refers to the pine nuts, which are the fruit of the araucaria tree, also known as the pinheiro-do-paraná palm tree. During the past decades, Curitiba became the city to offer the best quality of life in Brazil .

Its urban planning has the citizens and their well-fare as a major focus, presenting daring architectural projects and innovating initiatives on quality public services. The city, which always seeks harmony with nature, offers a total of 17 million square meters of green areas, including parks, squares and gardens. The conference sessions will be at the UnicenP Campus [The Positivo Centre University]. It is a modern university with a warm and green environment, and only 15 min drive from the city centre.

Accommodation

Among the hotels available in Curitiba, the Quality Hotel is the conference hotel. It is a modern hotel with swimming pool, gym and sauna. It is located in Batel, an elegant district of Curitiba, close to main shopping malls, restaurants and cafes.

For the IVLA Brazil conference the Quality Hotel is offering a special room fare, only when reservations are made with AGATUR the conference travel and accommodation agency.

The conference will provide daily shuttle service to the conference site, UnicenP Campus (The Positivo Centre University). Shuttle service is available from the Quality Hotel only.

Getting to Curitiba, Brazil
People coming from abroad will arrive at Afonso Pena Curitiba International Airport through Sao Paulo (50 min flight) or Rio de Janeiro (1 hour and 15 min flight). The airport is 30 min drive to the city centre and to the Hotel Pestana.

Getting to the Hotel
A bus service [shuttle] takes passengers to the main points of the city, other option is the pre-paid taxi, both are available at the airport door.

Meals

For your convenience we provide here the aproximate value of meals. Lunch at the UnicenP Campus costs around US$7.00-10.00 per person. Dinner in average Brazilian restaurants generally serves two. Prices range from US$12.00 to US$25.00. Notice that in most hotels breakfast is inclued.
