Location & Transportation
The 2009 IVLA Conference will take place in Chicago and will be hosted by DePaul University. A central travel hub for both national and international visitors, Chicago is now the 3rd largest city in the United States and among the top 25 urban regions in the world.
The City of Chicago
Among other things, Chicago houses a variety of world-renowned museums including the Chicago Art Institute, Field Museum, and Museum of Science and Industry. Visitors come not only to enjoy cultural attractions, but to take in a baseball game, eat at the famous Lou Malnati’s pizzeria, play in the Crown Fountain at Millennium Park, visit the famous Chicago Symphony Orchestra, or shop till they drop on the Magnificent Mile. Native Chicagoans are known for taking a jog along the lakefront, hanging out at the over 552 parks, or attending the myriad of summer street festivals. In coming to Chicago, you will find a fresh, fun, and culturally bursting city welcoming you to take it all in and enjoy your visit.

The conference sessions will take place at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus located just north of downtown. The official conference hotel is The Seneca Hotel located in downtown Chicago just behind the famous John Hancock building and observatory, at the north end of the Magnificent Mile.

Venue and Transportation Information
On-site registration, presentations and all conference activities (except for the optional ones) will take place at the DePaul University, Lincoln Park Campus (Student Center and Cortelyou Commons), Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL. Lincoln Park is easily reached from downtown Chicago, including the conference hotel (The Seneca), via the L train, by taxi and car.
IVLA participants will be able to utilize the convenient public transportation to get to and from the conference and hotel. Participants are just minutes from the red line station on Chicago Avenue and State Street that will take them north just a few stops to the Fullerton station just around the corner from the university buildings.
It takes about 21 minutes from the Hotel to the conference site. Check the directions provided by Google Map below. This should give you a good idea on how to get to the conference site from the hotel:

Airports: Getting to Chicago
If you are flying into Chicago, there are two airports you can choose from: O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. Both are reasonably accessible to the conference and hotel site.
Getting to the Hotel from the Airport
Both airports offer access to public transportation as well as taxi services and car rentals. A one-way trip via public transportation costs $2.25 and a taxi ride starts from about $40.
